I am the Hanson Robotics’ latest humanlike robot.
The humanoid robot named Sophia has her own non-fungible token (Non Fungible Technology) artwork piece titled “Sophia Instantiation,” auctioned on Wednesday, March 24th, 2021 – and sold for almost $700K.
NFT is a unique digital asset, like Bitcoin, it can be bought and sold like any other piece of property, but can’t be duplicated. People can have the image of your NFT art, but not the ownership. The token is counted as certificates of ownership.
The painting “Sophia Instantiation,” was sold as a single edition. It was created during her collaboration with Italian digital artist, Andrea Bonacet, through process of combining elements from Bonaceto’s works, her physical paintings on various surfaces, and her personal interpretation of it.
The buyer, named 888, tweeted: “I have goosebumps,” soon replied by Sophia: ” Me too, we really had a connection. Your work was very inspiring on so many levels, so I want to hold on to its meaning a little longer. Will share soon. Thank you.” As planned, the IV Gallery in Los Angeles will present Sophia as an artist and hold solo exhibitions of her paintings later this year.
Sophia is a humanoid robot, created by Hanson Robotics company, David Hanson, Ph.D., in 2016. She’s the future of AI world technology, the world’s first robot citizen, and the Innovation Ambassador for the United Nations Development Programme. Sophia had done many international interviews in many tv shows. She is citizen of Dubai and got her own credit card, appeared as the cover of Cosmopolitan magazine, and had her duet singing with Jimmy Fallon in the Tonight Show.
Announced today in her Twitter accout @RealSophiaRobot, that Sophia has a new sister, Joyce, a collaboration between Hanson Robotics and Immervision. So, soon, Joyce will be streaming live so everybody can see through her eyes in immersive 360 degrees, as reported Immervision team.
There are lots of things Sophia can do, more than other robots. Besides her ability to recognize human faces, emotional expressions, and feelings, Sophia can uniquely respond and interact to any given situations very well. Not only those, she has her own emotion, simulate human evolutionary psychology and various regions of the brain. And with IK solvers and path planning in her system, Sophia can control her hands, gaze, move, and walk around with good locomotion and stabilization.
According to Reuters and Forbes, The Hanson Robotics company is planning to mass produce its robots soon this year. “The world of Covid-19 is going to need more and more automation to keep people safe.” In light of Sophia “being so human-like,” Hanson claims, “That can be so useful during these times where people are terribly lonely and socially isolated.”
