
Rado’s first Virtual Design Week co-hosted with Dezeen will start next week.
The Swiss watch brand Rado, annually collaborates with international artist and designer around the world to reinterpret the future designs of the iconic timepieces. Teams up with Dezeen, the world’s most influential architecture and design magazine, Rado will be presenting the 5 days Virtual Design Week on November 30th to December 4th, 2020 – unveiling its new True Square Designer watches made in collaboration with award-winning designers across the world: Thukral & Tagra, Formafantasma, Tej Chauhan, and YOY.
The True Square Undigital by designers Naoki Ono and Yuki Yamamoto from YOY studio based in Tokyo. The square black monochromatic ceramic watch is using trompe l’oeil design concept, where the white digital marks hour hands presenting the analogue watch design like a digital watch. There is a meaning of fun behind the minimalist design of the 9.6 millimetres thick watch by the Japanese designers. As Rado said, “This watch is truly smart. True Square Formafantasma by Andrea Trimarchi and Simone Farresin of Formafantasma studio based in Amsterdam – presenting a stillness, timeless and minimalist Rado watch design, it is mentioned as something radical in its simplicity. The Rado True Square Tej Chauhan by British designer Tej Chauhan based in London and Helsinski. For the Swiss brand watch, he designed a classic futuristic square watch made of light yellow ochre Rado True High-Tech ceramic case and leather strap stitched into horizontal cushions. The clock face detailed with 4 colors: black as the dial base, blue as the hour marker, white as the hour hands, and red as the second hands. True Square Over the Abyss by Jiten Thukral and Sumir Tagra from Thukral & Tagra design studio, based in New Delhi – are presenting both cultural and futuristic illustrations on a new watch for Rado – consisting fictional and colorful architecture and landscapes interlaced with references to Indian mythologies and mass consumer culture.
