“We want to taste the authentic flavor of life, thus finding joy and intensity for each day,” – Marimekko.
The Finnish lifestyle design house, Marimekko, has sparked joy in our life with bold abstract prints and vibrant colours since 1951. The design house, founded by the visionary Armi Ratia, has been offering timeless, functional, and long-lasting products and developing more sustainable products and practices.
Marimekko, a brand with amazing print archives, celebrated its 70th anniversary this year, by presenting its Pre-Spring 2021 collection in digital format at Copenhagen Fashion Week last week – filmed in Marimekko’s textile printing factory in Helsinki, originally aired on Wednesday, August 12, 2020.
Marimekko team has been pushing the positive change through fairness and equality for everyone and everything, into the spotlight. The company has published a new sustainability strategy on December 9, 2020.
They have started projects in reducing emissions significantly in their entire value chain, aligned to the Paris Agreement on climate change – wih the hope reducing their production emissions, transport emissions, and water usage by half and textile material footprint by 30%, all in 2025.
Marimekko will introduce their new plant-based dyes in Pre-Fall 2021 collection and will be launching an art book with Thames & Hudson, written by Vogue US editor Laird Borelli-Persson in May 2021.
