1. Singapore
A Singaporean duo, Emily Yeo and Yeo Min, started Museum of Food in 2024, and they have introduced Singapore’s culinary heritage to locals through cooking workshops at different partners, with schools, corporations and community groups. And the good news is starting this month, the museum has its own official space, at 102 Joo Chiat Road (2nd floor), Singapore, to offer more cooking workshops and to display their Singapore food heritage items. 2. Japan
There’s new Japanese drama series based on true story, called “Canned Mackerel Heads to Space”, about students of Wakasa Senior high school in Fukui Prefecture, successfully developed the certified space food and officially served it in space. It was an inspiring true story where students came hand in hand for 14 years, passed down the research from senior students to juniors to accomplish their dream. And at last, they successfully obtained the Japanese space food certification in 2018 and produced the product for Japanese astronauts in the International Space Station! The series is now on air on Fuji TV.
3. South Korea
The owner of Nottodo Natto & Bar in Seoul city, Je Joon Hyuk, run his second natto competition last March, where people brought their natto-based dishes and shared them with others. They combine the Japanese soybean dish with other ingredients from other country and create the whole new different tastes. Like a vegan natto quiche inspired by French home cooking, also beet hummus natto sandwich which was sold out within hours. 4. USA
Trio parents from Seattle, Chet Kittleson, Max Blumen, and Graeme Davies, create a telephone for their kids so that they can call their friends. Safely. Independently. And without accessing the whole internet lines. The product is called Tin Can and it’s designed to operate like a traditional landline phone. It can only make and receive calls from an approved list of contact that parents set in the Tin Can companion app, which connects to the phone via its built-in WiFi. 5. Spain
The Marta Ortega Pérez (MOP) Foundation, opened its fashion and photography library in the MOP Centre in A Coruña, Spain. It has over 5,500 book titles, focused on rare fashion publications and out-of-print photography books which are not accessible in public libraries. At this moment, the consultation is exclusively in person and by appointment. The minimum age to access the library service is 16 years old.
